Has it really been a year? We are looking forward to throwing open the doors and welcoming you all to the city of Manchester for CYBERUK 2018.
Manchester Central, the setting for this year’s event, is a terrific venue to bring together our partners across Government, Industry, Academia, the Third Sector and Critical National Infrastructure. CYBERUK 2018 is our flagship event and there is a lot to be excited about.
Over the three days we will effectively be running two CYBERUK events; In Practice and Leadership.
On 10 and 11 April, more than 1500 information security professionals will assemble for CYBERUK In Practice. These two days will provide plenty of opportunities to share best practice, learn about the latest security threats and solutions, as well as the growing challenges we all face in the ever-evolving world of cyber security.
CYBERUK Leadership, on 12 April, will see policy makers, CEOs and thought leaders gathering to discuss how to meet the challenge of bringing cyber security and business acumen together to deliver success.
Most importantly, across the three days, we need to continue to develop the national conversation around cyber security for everyone in the UK – CYBERUK 2018 is the perfect place to address these challenges and forge new partnerships.
What else is new for this year? In his closing speech at CYBERUK 2017, and in his blog summarising last year’s event, Dr Ian Levy threw out a call to arms to make the cyber security industry an exemplar for diversity and inclusion. Since then we have worked with the wider community and businesses outside the security sector on a code of conduct that we will be following at CYBERUK 2018. This represents the start of a much longer journey for the profession and your support in taking diversity and inclusion forward, beyond the event, is paramount.
CYBERUK 2018 is set to be our biggest event so far. Here are a few numbers:
- 2,500+ delegates expected over the three days and 105 exhibitors
- More than 39 hours of track sessions planned with 150 speakers attending
- 26 Spotlight stage lightning talks and 19 workshops
Hopefully, that gives you just a taste of what to expect and captures the importance of the ever-growing cyber security industry.
The NCSC website will be carrying all kinds of content throughout the week and naturally we would encourage you to engage with us via Twitter (@NCSC and @CYBERUKevents) – the Twitter Wall will be making a return. We won’t just be present digitally, a whole host of our staff will be available on site so why not visit us on our stand, C501. Use any of these channels to tell us what you think, and work with us to develop CYBERUK as it is your event and the place for the cyber security leaders and professionals to meet each year.
I’d like to finish by saying a big thank you to everyone who will play a role at CYBERUK 2018. Not only our sponsors, exhibitors and industry partners whose support is invaluable in delivering the event, but also every single attendee whose contributions make it unmissable.
