NCSC and DCMS ran the first ‘Dragons Den’ at CyberUK 2017 Strategy day.
The companies presented their ideas facing three of our most fearsome dragons, Ian Levy, Jon L and Rob T, supported by the DCMS Cyber Security Growth team whose initiative this was. Following their pitch, each SME had to stand firm in the face of the dragons’ inquisition. The ideas needed to be technically viable with the potential for having a positive impact in strengthening UK cyber security.
The reward for the winner is assistance from the NCSC that will be tailored to suit the selected product or service. It could take the form of developing, assessing and piloting their product or service. It may include consultancy on the technology, targeted penetration testing of the product to improve its security, or potentially working with a government department to test deploy the offering.
And the winner is…
After 2 intensive hours the winner was chosen.
- iProov – brought an innovative biometric facial recognition authentication system. We think it has potential in our “getting rid of passwords” drive.
There were other notable pitches with promise, so we’ll also be working with them;
- CheckRecipient – a solution to support users and identify when they may have misaddressed emails and bring that to their attention.
- drie – helping developers get security right by default when they are making use of cloud service providers.
- OnDMARC – have produced a DMARC and DNS AI tool which has specific interest for the charity and SME sector.
Congratulations to everyone who took part – the dragons found it tough to pick winners from the twelve presentations.
